Registration Now Open for the 2010 OIPC Research Conference

 

You can now register online for the Feb. 18 research conference at the Indoor Adventure Center in Franklin Park in Columbus (PDF of the agenda and registration form is also available here).  Your registration fee includes not only conference admission but also admission to the nearby Franklin Park Conservatory and a copy of the conference proceedings when they become available.  Register before Jan. 15 to get the early bird discount.  See the flyer for this exciting and popular event.

The OIPC 2009 Annual Meeting Featured Doug Pearsall and Don Cipollini
 

The 2009 OIPC annual meeting was held on Wednesday, February 11 from 9:30am-2:30pm, at Highbanks Metro Park north of Columbus, OH.  The featured speakers were Doug Pearsall from the MI Chapter of TNC who spoke about TNC's collaboration with Meijer to limit invasive plants as well as his work with MI's Invasive Plant Assessement System.  Our second speaker was our own Don Cipollini who talked about garlic mustard and its ability to use "novel weapons".  Check here for the schedule.


2007 Research Conference Proceedings Now Available Online

The conference proceedings are now available as a downloadable PDF either here or under the "Resources" link in the "OIPC Research Conference Proceedings".  You can download the PDF of all papers and poster abstracts that were presented at the meeting.  The 2004 Research Conference Proceedings are also available at the same site.  Our next research conference will take place in 2010.

Iron Furnace Cooperative Weed Management Area


Ohio
's first and only Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA), formed in September 2006, is located in southern Ohio in Lawrence, Gallia, Scioto and Jackson counties. If you've ever been confused by how to tell Asian bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus) from American bittersweet (C. scandens), a great new fact sheet is now available from USGS.  Click here for the link.

Only a Limited Supply Left of OIPC/MIPN Brochure
There are only a limited nuumber of brochures left of "Why Should I Care About Invasive Plants" (see brochure online here).  If you are interested in purchasing a number brochures for your group, please contact a member of the OIPC Board.
